Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21 1982. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Born in Worthington Ohio, she dropped out of high school and moved to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. Her first role came to her, as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001 despite struggling financially. Her portrayal of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV film Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004 as well as sharing with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) alongside her. Grace wanted to focus on film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. She reprised her role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role as Shannon in Lost for two episodes. This included the finale of the series. In 2013, she appears in the episode Californianation of the 6th Season. The character she plays is Faith who is both the star-gazer and a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Gyllenhaal is a part of the family, and is the older sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens She began working as a small part-time actress for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko with her twin brother. Later, she was on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her leading roles in Secretary (2002 the erotic romance drama), and Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) of which garnered her Golden Globe Award nods. The year 2006 was the time she appeared in numerous films that were commercially successful, including World Trade Center. However the role she played as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent was nominated for the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang and Hysteria. Other roles she has played include Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller) as well as actors in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as The Kindergarten Teacher. In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut with the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
