Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. When she was just five when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled at an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She studied for a number of years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she studied acting as well as singing. By the age of ten she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach shows and school productions. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been picked for these parts. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. The film is 2001's top earning film, smashing records on opening day and the very first weekend. Reviewers were awed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Later Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in a feature Film.
